The Christian Outreach Center began in 1991 as a volunteer effort out of St. Joseph Cathedral. Today, in addition to The Purple Cow thrift stores, we are supported by First Baptist, First Presbyterian, First United Methodist, and St. Joseph Cathedral.
The focus of Life Touch is the homeless community in Downtown Baton Rouge, but our modules are offered to anyone in the Baton Rouge metro area. We help those who are being released from prison, those who are overcoming drug/alcohol addiction, and those who are homeless for various other reasons.
We believe in working with other organizations to provide wholistic care. Our partners include:
- Alliance House
- Bishop Ott Men’s Shelter
- Capital Area Alliance for the Homeless
- Capital Area Reentry Coalition
- Connections for Life
- Inner Wheel Attic Trash and Treasures
- Joseph Homes
- Lean on Me, Inc.
- Live to Serve
- Living Waters Shelter
- O’Brien House
- Probation and Parole
- Salvation Army
- Sweet Dreams and St. Agnes Women’s Shelter
- Travail Women’s Transitional Housing
- West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office
- Women’s Community Rehabilitation Center
- 19th Judicial District
